There was a plapable buzz from the cowd at moja! moja! (AutoONE, 1755 West 3rd) on Oct. 27. The exhibit of work by some of B.C.’s top contemporary artists incorporated photographs taken by children in a Kenyan oprphanage. Vancouverite Susan Standfield, founder of the Children’s Photographic Gallery of Kenya, supplied the children with disposable cameras to take the photos, and arranged the exhibit with Julie Lee of Arthouse. Among those who came to show their support were actor Hugh Jackman (Wolverine in the X-Men movies) and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Australian actress. The real scene-stealers, though, were the children from Kenyan orphanages who arrived before an onslaught of cameras.
