The city’s visual arts community gathered at the Auto One dealership on West Third for a photographic exhibition by some of B.C.’s leading contemporary artists. Picking up a few pieces were X-Men’s Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who made a special appearance along with some special kids from Kenyan orphanages at the opening reception of moja! moja! Vancouverite Susan Standfield, founder of the Children’s Photographic Gallery of Kenya, along with Arthouse’s Julie Lee designed the show to raise funds and awareness for Kenya’s SHERP orphanage. Supplying the children with cameras, the select group of artists came together to create interdisciplinary art in collaboration with photographs taken by the children of the orphanage.
